      Life began about 3 billion years ago as single celled creatures. Plants evolved around 800 million years ago, long before animals, beginning in the ocean. The plants produced so much oxygen that animals could eventually evolve around 500 millions years ago. Again beginning in the ocean things like jellyfish and molluscs appeared!
